Young Rider camp - Session 1

  • June 23, 2014
  • June 26, 2014
  • Tyler, TX - Texas Rose Horse Park
Hello Campers!
The 2014
Area V Young Rider Camp will be held again this year in two sessions. Session I will be from June 23- 26 2014.
Session II will be from the 26 - 29.
Please indicate on the application which camp you would prefer to attend. We will try to accommodate your preference, however, we also hope to keep the groups small.Camp this year will again be at
Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, Texas. We are very excited about getting to use this facility again! Mike Huber will be the camp instructor.
Camp includes levels Beginner Novice through Intermediate Level.
Intermediate level is new this year at camp, so if you are schooling this level we can accommodate you and your horse.
All campers and support staff will be housed and fed at Cabin Creek within walking distance to Texas Rose. All linens and towels will be provided, but each camper will be responsible for their own pillows.
Make sure you look at the list that is with this registration packet for more on what to bring. See www.cabincreeklindale.comfor a description of the cabins.
One question I get asked a lot is “does my child need to be a Young Rider in order to go to camp?” The answer is yes , you do need to be a member of the Area V Young Rider program as well as a member of the USEA. All of this can be accomplished online at www.useventing.com. Joining Area V Young Riders does NOT mean you are trying for the Area V NAJYRC (North American Junior and Young Rider Championships) Team. The Area V Young Rider Team is different and an entirely different process is involved, although we hope to see many of you on the NAJYRC Team in years to come.

Parents–this camp is for your children and we want it to be a real “camp” experience for the m. We discourage parents from attending camp with their children. However, we do understand that many of you will be hauling your camper and his or her horse a great distance and might not want to make the journey 4 times in a matter ofa few days. In this case, we urge you to avail yourselves of the Texas Rose RV site. We have included a reservation form in this packet for those of you wishing to “camp out” in your trailer. You will need to fill out
this form and make a separate check for $35.00 a night made payable to TRHP. It should accompany your application. If you do not have a trailer with living quarters, you can find a list of the area hotels in the USEA Omnibus. There are a ton of things to keep you busy in the Tyler area and Canton and Dallas are only short drives from there.
Each camper’s stall comes with three bags of shavings. If you need more, please indicate on the application at
the bottom of the form. Shavings are $8 per bag and NO OUTSIDE SHAVINGS ARE ALLOWED BY TRHP. Again, include a SEPARATE check made out to TRHP for extra shavings and send it to me along with your application and other forms.
Below is a checklist of forms that must accompany your application for camp. It is NOT considered complete if any of them are missing.
______ Application (it is fillable)
______ Negative Coggins (current)
______ USEA Educational Activities Release Form
______ USEA Emergency Medical Release Form
______ Texas Rose Horse Park Release Form
______ Texas Rose Horse Park Reservation Form (Optional)
______ ALL fees, including shavings check for Texas Rose and RV Reservation.
I look forward to organizing the camps again this year. Our camps are always fun and educational. With the best instruction, best food and accommodations! If you have any questions, please email or call me. Camp will fill up quickly; I will begin a waitlist when all 40 spots are filled. First come, first served! See you soon!
